K2 e Baltoro ripuliti da 8 tonnellate di rifiuti

Otto tonnellate di rifiuti portati a valle, tra carta, plastica, lattine, vetro e materiali tossici. Due sono già state smaltite presso l’isola ecologica del villaggio di Askole. Questi i primi risultati dell’operazione "Keep Balotro Clean", avviata dal Comitato EvK2Cnr nell’ambito del progetto Karakorum Trust, per ripulire il ghiacciaio del Baltoro e i campi alti delle montagne che vi si affacciano.

K2 and Baltoro cleaned from 8 tonnes of waste

8,000 kilos of waste (paper, plastic, cans, glass and toxic materials) have been carried down from the Baltoro glacier over the past weeks.Over 2,000 kilos have already been burned. These are the first results of the "Keep Baltoro Clean" campaign, organized by the EvK2Cnr Committee and the Pakistan Alpine Club in the framework of Karakorum Trust project. The operation is aimed at cleaning up from waste the Baltoro glacier, the base camps and the higher camps of the expeditions climbing the surrounding mountains.
