India sails into top Four of Men's Volleyball Korea Republic ,Qatar and China into next ro

India sailed into the top four of the men’s volleyball by beating Brazil 3-1 at the Yusufguda Volleyball   Stadium in Hyderabad, today. After three rounds of matches in Pools A and B - Korea Republic, India, Qatar and China are the teams who are into the top four teams of the tournament whereas Netherlands, Latvia, Canada and Brazil will fight for 5th to 8th positions.-

New Delhi:  In a spirited performance the Indian youngsters rose to the challenge by beating the mighty South Americans in a four set thriller. Brazil started well leading in the first set by a good margin. However, the Indians were fighting tooth and nail. The Brazilians were matched by the Indian youngsters point by point. However they lost the first set which Brazil took 25-23 taking 1-0 lead. Not taking it easy the Indians took the early lead in the second set and went on to take the set 25-17.- 


A jeering crowd present in large numbers at the Kotla Vijay Bhaskar Reddy Stadium danced and cheered Indian team to the tune of ’Chak De India’. In the third set the roar from the crowd started reaching a higher level as India took an 8-4 lead. Indians were putting the pressure on the Brazilians forcing them to make mistakes. India took the decisive third set 26-24 to go up 2-1 in the match. The Brazilians fought back but the Indians were not in the mood to give any quarter. In the set the pressure was showing on the Brazilians as they argued with the umpires several times who was mostly not convinced. The fourth set was won by India convincingly 25-17 taking the match 3-1 as the crowd set the stadium on fire with their enthusiasm and victory chants.In another match this morning Qatar made a clean sweep of Netherlands beating them 3-0.Qatar dominated the first set winning it 25-22.The second set saw a close fight being given from Netherlands but the set was taken by Qatar 27-25.In the third set the Dutch lost 16-25.

The overall slackness on part of the Netherlands team showed on the field and the result.In the other two matches Korea Republic beat Canada comfortably in three straight sets. The Korean domination started from the beginning and they pocketed the first set 25-17 before the Canadians could settle in the game. In the second set Canadians could only do marginally better and let the Koreans take the set 25-20.In the third and deciding set the Koreans won 25-18 .In the fourth match in the evening China surpassed Latvia 3-0.The first set was taken by the Chinese 25-20.The Latvians resisted but the Chinese were more skilled and had their winning plans well chalked out. The second set also saw some resistance being put up by the Latvians but they rarely had the answers to the Chinese smashes to let the Chinese take it 25-17.In the third set Chinese had easy walkover winning the set 25-12.In tomorrow’s fixtures in the second round of Round Robin league India plays Korea Republic (at 2 pm) whereas Qatar plays China (at 4 pm) and Netherlands faces Latvia(at 10 am) and Canada takes on - Brazil(at 12 noon).
