MEDICINE: THE WEIGHT HORMONE CAN REGULATE OUR IMMUNE SYSTEM

A study carried out by the team of Immune Endocrinology of CNR from Naples, published on the Journal of Clinical Investigation, has underlined the key role played by leptine - a hormone regulating body weight - in the aetiology of serious autoimmune diseases such as experimental multiple sclerosis (experimental allergic encephalitis EAE) and autoimmune diabetes.

Uno studio del Gruppo di ImmunoEndocrinologia del CNR di Napoli " pubblicato dal Journal of Clinical Investigation " ha evidenziato il ruolo essenziale della Leptina, nota come l’ormone che regola il peso corporeo, nell’eziologia di gravi malattie autoimmunitarie quali la sclerosi multipla sperimentale (encefalite autoimmune sperimental, EAE) e il diabete autoimmune.
